Welcome, Ladies!

Picture
I bring my experience as a dancer, teacher, performer, mother and woman to my classes.
The Ladies Solo Dance programme is something I am passionate about sharing as more than a social activity for women but as an experience that can positively impact lives in a way that dance has impacted mine.

I love the dance - all dance - and I invite you to share my journey. Let me enthuse, guide and encourage you to dance on your own, sharing the (online) floor with others, without barriers or a sense of competition but simply for the joy of it!

Dance Greetings,
Mareli

Ladies Solo Dance

Picture
Ladies Solo Dance is a unique programme where women celebrate their femininity and simply dance for the joy of it. Using Latin American, Argentinean Tango and Ballroom dance, this programme is fun, challenging and it encourages women to dance without inhibition, to be proficient as a partner (should they dance with one) but to have the confidence, balance and poise to dance solo.
I developed Ladies Solo Dance to provide women without much dance experience access to the beauty of dance. Another of my motivations was to provide women with the skills and confidence to dance solo, to keep fit and supple, and to develop their core strength and improve their posture. Training in a gym does not appeal to everyone and I find that often women enjoy the elegance of the Ballroom dances and the high-energy cheeky and seductive moves of Latin American dance.

Women from all walks of life enjoy the power of Ladies Solo Dance quite simply for the sheer joy of the movement, the excitement of performance, and for some, a valuable reiteration of their value and femininity.
Articles by medical practitioners can be seen in media with increasing regularity, recommending dance as a therapy for a healthy heart, healthy body and a healthy head! Can dance solve all our maladies? That I don’t know. What I do know for sure is that Ladies Solo Dance is the ultimate fun way for women of different backgrounds and abilities to share, empathise, communicate, and simply feel good about life and each other. I think this is important at all times, but especially now given the challenges we all face during this global pandemic.

Let's connect, have a little fun and come together for some healing dancing!

Women have always danced!

Wikipedia gives us a brilliant, brief summary:
“The important place of women in dance can be traced back to the very origins of civilisation. Cave paintings, Egyptian frescos, Indian statuettes, ancient Greek and Roman art and records of court traditions in China and Japan all testify to the important role women played in ritual and religious dancing from the start. [...] More recently, women have played a leading role in developing various forms of modern dance including flamenco and expressionist dance.”
